resonance

resonance, a short collective of music and instrumentals, came about while looking at some artwork by lily ge, inspiration from her work, kind of, an alignment of what musical ideas I was working on at the same time, and my influence by the Peter Gabriel music score to the martin Scorsese film, The Last Temptation of Christ, for many years this music inspired and influenced me.  it was inevitable that I would gain an interest in the kinds of instruments used, and at the same time, delve into the sounds of instruments from other parts of the world, African, far eastern and sounds from the middle east, not to mention, western influence in instruments and genre.  and so evolved a few ideas of instrumental music, with the precept of the big screen and film.

the main context of this work was always going to be, the feeling of imagination, to make it open, room for improv and experiment, and to set down the basic ideas and building blocks for musicians to work with, and improve the ideals of what was set out.  for me, music always comes across in a more defined way, when set as a backdrop for a visual interpretation, and hence the idea of music for film and visual media.  resonance is a work in progress, and in the hope of future collaboration with visual artists.  for now, below is a working log of what might entail.  -rs.
